Christmas message

Latest Updates
Well here we are again! If the John Lewis advert is on the TV, Christmas can’t be far away.

It has been a very busy year as usual and I’ve been up and down the country to Art Societies as well as all the Art Shows like Patchings and the NEC.

The Painting Holidays in France, Kent and Suffolk were all very much enjoyed. Unfortunately these are already fully booked for next year.

I will, however, be joining Marilyn Allis and Denise Allen in Bournemouth for a 3 day painting holiday in March 2019.

I have decided to cut down on the Home Workshops in 2019 as I just have too much to do when I am at home. There are several books in production and the Gallery walls are looking very bare as I don’t have time to paint.

The website has been overhauled and improved to keep it current and make it easier to find things. Frank and Bert have their own page now.

I can’t offer you Kevin the Carrot or an M&S turkey for Christmas, but I do have a large selection of demo paintings that I have done over the year which are on offer at low prices. See them here  I’m expecting them to go quickly so ring the office to reserve yours (01670 760 030) or buy then via the e-shop.

And if you are thinking about Christmas presents, don’t forget all our art materials and books are much cheaper than those in the shops. Either buy through the e-shop using PayPal or, again, ring the office and pay by card.

Happy Christmas

From Charlie, Gail, Brett and the Boys

Fishmish

December 15th.  Charlie is hard at work painting a plaster fish! It’s for a Fisherman’s charity and the fish are referred to as Fishmish. They will be auctioned off in May 2019 to raise funds. Here is the link http://www.fishermensmission.org.uk/cod/

Look how the fish looks so far………..

and the other side

And now it’s finished. Just needs varnishing.

Charlie did a similar project on a lamb in 2016 for another charity.

The fish has been varnished and it is lovely and shiny and looks very happy!!

Let’s hope it raises lots of money at the auction in May19.

SAA Workshop

On Dec 6th, Charlie was at the SAA headquarters for a workshop. SAA members could attend the Workshop or follow it live on the internet. SAA members can see the video by logging in to their account and following the links.

This is Gary who makes the technology happen.

And this is what he is looking at.

This was the picture, a snow scene showing Charlie’s house.

And here are the results of the hard work.

Demo in Royal Tunbridge Wells

In the heart of Tunbridge Wells, close to the famous Pantiles (which are under very noisy renovation!) is a very long-established art society. Charlie was demonstrating there on a sunny afternoon earlier this month.

This was the first picture in the style of Roland Hilder.

And then a quickie to finish, a bit of snow!

One lady wrote afterwards:

“I just want to say a very big thank you for an immensely entertaining afternoon and the excellent demonstration you gave. We all loved it!”

Dry Water Arts Centre Amble Northumberland

Charlie was asked to give a workshop in November at the Dry Water Arts Centre in Amble, just up the road from where he lives. This is a new venture and contact details are shown below.

The Workshop • Wellwood Street • Amble • NE65 0FG

tel: 07542 141411

email: info@drywaterarts.uk

Obviously, Charlie was very pleased to do so and to meet Frances who runs the Centre and our friend Luke who helps out. The workshop was very well attended and everyone had a good time, a lovely lunch and a couple of finished paintings to take home.

The Centre is a great space for a workshop (but can be used for many other functions as well, including yoga).

Lunch was very welcome!

Two of the finished paintings by the participants.

We also found out about another new venture nearby.

After years of lying dormant and falling into disrepair the Old Miners Bath House in North Broomhill is getting life breathed into it once more.

The Old Bath House
(near Radar Close)
North Broomhill
Northumberland
NE65 9UJ

The iconic red bricked building built in the late 50’s for miners and their families to shower in has been bought privately and is taking on a new lease of life. Artists are taking up residence in the building and the owner is keen to develop the site as an artists hub. Already a print-maker, sculptor, sign writer, carpenter and  glass artist have moved in.

Google The Old bath House for artists’ details.
